Privacy policy
Clapscale holds what customers say about a business. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Clapscale (clapscale.com) is a service where businesses invite customers to write a Customer Story and show the verified ones on a public page. In this policy, "we" means Clapscale. You can reach us on the Contact page.
What we collect
From business owners
- Your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code.
- Your business details: name, page address, tagline, description, website and logo.
- The names and email addresses you enter when you invite a customer, and the tags and settings you create.
From customers who write a Customer Story
- Your name, and a short line about who you are if you add one.
- Your ratings for Trust, Smile and Value, your story title and your words.
- Photos or a video, and a profile photo, if you choose to add them.
- Your email address, used to send a one-time code that confirms it is you.
From people who visit a page or write to us
- An anonymous visitor identifier, so unique visitors are counted once each. The count is shown only to the page owner.
- If you use the Contact page: your name, email and message.
- Basic technical data such as your browser type and a one-way scrambled form of your network address, used to keep the service secure and to limit abuse.
How we use it
- To run the service: sign-in codes, invitations and reminders, verification, publishing and the Clap Score.
- To show a published Customer Story, with the name and details the customer gave, on the business's public page.
- To answer your messages and keep the service secure.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show advertising.
What is public
A Customer Story is public once the business owner tags and publishes it. That includes the customer's name, ratings, words, photos or video, and the date. Email addresses are never shown on a public page.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of providers to run Clapscale. They handle data only to provide their service to us:
- Vercel, to host the website.
- Supabase, for the database and for stored photos and videos.
- Resend, to send emails such as invitations and sign-in codes.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the service and its users.
How long we keep it
We keep an account and its stories while the account is active. A business owner can delete a story or card. Because the Clap Score is cumulative, the ratings of a deleted card stay in the score as numbers, without the customer's words or details. Contact messages are kept for as long as we need them to help you.
Your choices
- Customers can ask to change the story they wrote, or ask for it to be removed.
- You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.
- If you got an invitation you did not expect, ignore it. Nothing happens unless you open the link.
To use any of these choices, write to us on the Contact page from the email address the information is linked to.
Cookies
We use only what the service needs: a sign-in session for business owners and an anonymous visitor identifier for page visit counts. We do not use advertising cookies.
Children
Clapscale is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top of this page.
